Bread is the thing most of us miss first on keto. Toast in the morning, a sandwich at lunch, a bun around a burger: it runs through the whole day. The good news is that QueenKeto has spent years (and, for one loaf, hundreds of test bakes) working out how to bake proper bread without wheat flour, and some of those recipes have quietly become the most visited pages on the blog.
So we did what we did with our sugar free ice cream top 10: we let you decide. We pulled up the blog’s statistics and ranked our keto and low carb bread recipes by how often you open them. Below are the ten you bake most, from the reader favourite down to number ten. Every one is gluten free and yeast free, and none has more than 2g carbs per serving.
Ten reader-ranked keto bread recipes, all 2g carbs or less per serving. Sandwich loaves, rolls, burger buns, wraps, crumpets and even a sweet loaf for tea time. Three of them are carnivore bread recipes at zero carbs per slice (including the two you open most of all), and not one needs yeast or proving time.
How we ranked these
No taste-test jury, no editorial favouritism. We took every bread recipe that has our new printable recipe card and ranked them by page views over the past twelve months. That means this top 10 reflects what readers actually bake on repeat, not what we’d pick ourselves. Crackers and crisps live in the same corner of the blog, but they sit this one out: this list is strictly for things you can slice, split, fill or wrap.
The top 10 keto bread recipes
1. Zero-Carb Carnivore Bread Loaf

The undisputed reader favourite, and the recipe that took longest to get right: hundreds of test bakes over several months. The result is a loaf that is neither dense, sticky nor powdery, with no nut or seed flours, no fibre and no sweeteners. Eggs, egg white powder and beef gelatine do the heavy lifting, with a little whey protein isolate, so it stays zero-carb as long as your whey isolate is too. Weigh everything on metric scales: in this recipe, a gram either way really matters.
Carbs 0g per sliceTime 45 minBest for carnivore and ketovore sandwichesFull recipe2. Zero-Carb Carnivore Easy Bread

The simpler sibling of number one, and arguably the more practical: no gelatine, a handful of ingredients, and you decide whether it becomes a flatbread or a loaf. It was baked every single week for months before it went on the blog, so it’s thoroughly tried and tested. One rule matters above all others: use whey protein isolate, not concentrate, or it simply won’t work.
Carbs 0g per sliceTime 35 minBest for flatbreads or a quick weekly loafFull recipe3. Low Carb White Lupin Tortilla

Proof that keto bread doesn’t have to involve an oven. You make it like a French crêpe, then cook it a little longer until it dries into a pliable tortilla. Lupin flour, milk, an egg and a pinch of salt is all it takes, and once it cools there’s no eggy flavour left. Make a stack in advance: they keep in a sealed container in the fridge and reheat beautifully the next day. (Lupin is a legume related to peanuts, so skip this one if you have a peanut allergy.)
Carbs 1g eachTime 12 minBest for wraps, fajitas and quick lunchesFull recipe4. 90 Seconds Low Carb English Crumpets

Crumpets or English muffins? The recipe happily lets you decide. What matters is the texture: light, spongy and full of nooks and crannies for puddles of butter. They were tested with a stopwatch, and they really are that quick: no mess, no special skills, and warm crumpets on the plate in under ten minutes.
Carbs 1g per crumpetTime 7 minBest for breakfast and tea timeFull recipe5. Queen Keto Lupin Bread Rolls

Soft, fluffy, neutral-tasting rolls that are nut-free, coconut-free, gluten-free and yeast-free. Mix, pour into moulds, bake: that’s it. The ingredient list is longer than most on this page, but you only use a little of each, so one bag of every specialist ingredient lasts for many batches. Stick to the recipe exactly (the whey must be isolate) and you’ll be rewarded with properly puffed-up rolls.
Carbs 0.6g per rollTime 1 hrBest for dinner rolls and packed lunchesFull recipe6. Keto Zero-Carb Sandwich Bread

Soft, spongy, sturdy, and it toasts well: the four things you want from sandwich bread, and the four things many protein breads get wrong. It uses just 20g each of lupin flour and whey protein isolate per batch, needs no loaf tin, and gives you a choice of slices or buns. If you’ve been put off by keto breads with the texture of memory foam, give this one a go.
Carbs ~0.1g per sliceTime 45 minBest for toasted sandwichesFull recipe7. Amazing Low Carb Keto Protein Bread Loaf

A long-standing favourite with the most-rated recipe card in this top 10 (17 ratings and counting). It smells and feels like a traditional loaf, holds up like one, toasts well and keeps for days. Cream cheese, eggs and whey protein isolate, with a little coconut flour and psyllium husk, give it a proper crumb at just 0.7g carbs per slice.
Carbs 0.7g per sliceTime 40 minBest for everyday toastFull recipe8. Easy Keto Burger Buns

Soft yet sturdy, neutral in flavour, and lighter in calories than most keto breads, because there are no nuts, coconut, seeds, cheese or butter involved. One batch gives you twelve halves at 0.3g carbs each. A bonus trick from the recipe: flip a half upside down, top it with tomato sauce and cheese, and grill it for five minutes for an instant mini pizza.
Carbs 0.6g per bunTime 30 minBest for burgers and mini pizzasFull recipe9. High Protein Cottage Cheese Wrap

QueenKeto’s take on the viral cottage cheese wrap, with four ingredients instead of the usual two: cottage cheese, egg, ground flaxseed and lupin flour. Those extra two make all the difference: it holds together, rolls well and genuinely fills you up, with 16.5g of protein per wrap. It’s oven-ready in about a minute, which makes it the easiest bake on this list.
Carbs 2g per wrapTime 26 minBest for high-protein lunchesFull recipe10. Zero-Carb Carnivore Sweet Bread

The tea-time treat of the list. A mildly sweet, high-protein loaf flavoured with vanilla and banana extracts and sweetened with allulose, which also helps it rise evenly and gives it a lovely brown outer skin. About ten minutes of work before it goes in the oven, and a buttered slice sorts out a sweet tooth without reaching for cake.

Rankings are rankings: these five aren’t in the top 10, but each one does something none of the winners above do. If the bread you’re after isn’t listed yet, chances are it’s here.
- Sunday roast coming up? These Low Carb Yorkshire Puddings (2.6g net carbs each) aren’t bread, which is the only reason they’re not in the top 10: they are the single most visited recipe in this whole corner of the blog, and a keto Sunday roast staple since 2018.
- Missing a proper bagel? These Keto Milk Bagels (No Cheese, No Eggs) (3g carbs per large bagel) skip the usual fathead dough entirely: no cheese, no eggs, no yeast and no added fats, yet they’re puffy and satisfying.
- Craving a taste of Italy? This Keto Genoese Focaccia Bread (No Gluten, No Yeast) (1.6g carbs) brings Liguria’s olive-oil-dimpled focaccia to the keto table at just 122 calories a portion.
- Baking around allergies? These Keto Lupin Dinner Rolls (No Dairy, Eggs or Nuts) (1.8g net carbs) are completely vegan and need no whipping, proving or blending. Just remember that lupin isn’t suitable if you’re allergic to peanuts.
- Baking ahead for the week? These Keto Low-Carb High-Fibre Burger Bread Buns (2g carbs each) are made for it: one bowl, sturdy enough for packed lunches, they stay fresh for days and thaw from the freezer with no loss of texture.
Something to go with your bread
A good loaf deserves good company. Two QueenKeto extras that pair with almost everything above:
- Something to spread. This Sugar Free Strawberry Jam (No Pectin) was made for warm crumpets and buttered toast.
- Something crunchy. When you want snap rather than softness, these Easy Keto Lupin Crackers are the most popular cracker on the blog and ready in about half an hour.

Tips for better keto bread at home

- Weigh, don’t scoop. Several of these recipes use only a few grams of each dry ingredient, so cup measures simply aren’t precise enough. A set of digital metric scales is the single best investment for keto baking.
- Use whey protein isolate, not concentrate. The recipes that call for it really mean it: concentrate has more lactose and fat and won’t give the same rise. Not sure what to buy, or where? Our keto pantry guide covers whey isolate, lupin flour, psyllium husk and the other specialist ingredients used across the blog, with what each one does.
- Don’t freestyle the dry ingredients. In flourless bread, every powder has a job (bulk, structure or rise). Swap or skip one and the texture changes, so follow the recipe card the first time you bake it.
- Let it cool before slicing. Most of these breads slice more cleanly and hold their shape better once fully cooled. If you love it warm, toast a slice afterwards.
Frequently asked questions
Is keto bread really zero carb?
Some of it is. The three carnivore breads in this roundup (numbers 1, 2 and 10) are built on eggs, egg white powder and whey protein isolate, so they come in at 0g carbs per slice, provided your whey isolate is carb-free too. Check the label, as some brands add sweeteners. The other recipes use small amounts of lupin flour, coconut flour or psyllium husk and land between 0.1g and 2g carbs per serving.
Can you make keto bread without yeast?
Yes, and every recipe in this roundup does. The loaves, rolls and buns rise with whipped eggs, egg white powder, cream of tartar, baking powder or bicarbonate of soda, while the tortilla and the wrap don’t need to rise at all. That also means no proving time: most go from bowl to oven in under half an hour.
Why do so many keto bread recipes insist on whey protein isolate?
Without wheat flour, protein has to give low carb bread its structure. Whey protein isolate is almost pure protein with next to no lactose or fat, and the recipes here are built around exactly that. Whey concentrate contains more of both, so swapping it in won’t give the same rise or texture.
How should I store homemade keto bread?

Most of these breads keep for a few days in an airtight container in the fridge, and the recipe cards note any exceptions. For longer storage, slice the loaf before freezing so you can take out just what you need and toast it straight away.
